"Kids and parents ooh and aah when they enter this picturesque boutique. Once known for second-hand clothes, it now sells new stock from such top labels as Mish Mish, Blü and Mim-Pi. Everyday wear includes an adorable Deux par Deux striped jersey dress ($52) with a polka-dotted bottom, and Petit Lem’s striped sleepers ($25). A generous range of clothes for boys is capped off by UV-protective safari hats ($30). In the back room, fantasy items include Jolene’s raw-silk dresses ($90), perfect for flower girls. All this, and free cookies to munch on while you shop."

I was speechless when I visited bean sprout (616 Mt. Pleasant Rd.). The store owner has recently switched from consignment to gorgeous designer wear for kids. Her taste is impeccable. Each line is more adorable than the next.

Bean Sprout specializes in beautiful clothing and accessories for boys and girls aged newborn to 10 years. Bean Sprout's owner Trish Haddad has secured exclusive rights to the popular Mim-Pi line from Holland, a well-priced, whimsical, all-cotton line that offers such beauties as a lovely dress with layers of sheer netting and embroidered detail from the line for $59.99. Other lines include Blu, Petit Lem, Deux par Deux, Mexx, Lipstik , Point Zero, silk dresses from Jo Lene, tutus from Dreampower and more. The shop is kid-friendly with complimentary cookies. There's also free diapers available and a place to breastfeed.

After ten years of specializing in resale designer clothing for children, bean sprout now features only new clothing and accessories for boys and girls ages newborn to 10 years. The new, renovated bean sprout re-opened Feb 18.

Owner, Trish Haddad has made an effort to find reasonably priced and interesting lines for her shop. She has secured exclusive rights to the popular Mim-Pi line from Holland. Haddad says, “After ten great years of providing designer resale clothing I decided to meet the need in the neighbourhood for a local shop where you could find new, quality, affordable and fashionable clothing and accessories for kids. bean sprout is now able to offer a more consistent choice of clothing while keeping the same convenient location.”

Friendly service has always been a priority for Haddad and her staff and she now adds a generous return policy, not found in most small boutiques (full refund within 7 days/exchange or credit within 14 days). Kids are genuinely welcome in the store and can play and eat complimentary cookies. There are free diapers available and a place to breastfeed.
